Smarty: monetization, billing and analytics in a single ecosystem
Starting a TV service is only half the battle. The second, no less important part is to build an effective system of earnings on it, integrate it with the operator’s accounting system and understand what subscribers watch and how. Platform Smarty from Microimpuls it closes all three tasks, offering built-in monetization tools, flexible integrations with billings, and powerful tv viewing analytics.
Built-in monetization tools
Smarty provides the operator with a wide arsenal of advertising and marketing tools to increase revenues from each subscriber. All of them are configured through the WEB-interface without reassembling applications. Promotion of content and services:
- Banners on the homepage advertising new tariffs, promotions or equipment at the most prominent place in the application.
- Promo banners with the transition to the film card a direct path from advertising to viewing.
- Castomy selections and content tapes – control the viewer’s attention through the output of selections by genres, directors or author’s lists.
- Display of closed content Demonstration of films and channels that are not available at the current tariff, with the icon “lock”. This stimulates the upsale - the transition to a more expensive package.
- Push notifications notifications about new products and promotions on the TV screen and on mobile devices.
Promotional tools:
- Video ads (pre-roll) before the launch of a channel or film with flexible targeting: by tariff, device, geolocation, screening time. It is possible to adjust the skip of the roller.
- Integration with external advertising providers automatic filling of advertising slots and income from impressions without the participation of the operator.
- Targeted banners and congratulations spot advertising for specific groups of subscribers (by district, segment of the base) or personal birthday greetings.
Sales in annex:
- Widgets placing links to payment forms, partner services and internal services directly in the interface.
- Full OTT mode with in-app sales Subscribers can independently register, buy and disable tariffs, replenish the balance directly from the TV screen. This makes the app a 24/7 sales showcase.
Integration with billing and operator ecosystem
Smarty provides a transparent connection with the operator’s accounting system and its ecosystem. More information about the technical aspects of integration can be found in the documentation: Integration with the billing system and API for developers.
- Bilateral integration with BSS. Maintained as Incoming integration (the billing manages subscribers and their services in Smarty), and Outgoing integration (Smarty initiates actions in billing: balance request, connection of services, replenishment of the account).
- Experience of integration with billing systems. Microimpuls has successful implementation experience with HydraBilling, Mikbill, Lanbilling, BGBilling, CTI Billing System, Abills, as well as with self-written operator systems.
- Integrating payment systems. It is possible to pay by bank card directly from the TV screen, by QR code and set up recurrent (automatic) payments.
- Integration with the subscriber’s personal account. Unified authorization and management of all services through the operator’s LC is provided.
Flexible authorization and registration
The platform supports various ways of entering the service, adapted for different scenarios and devices:
- login and password;
- by phone number (with confirmation by SMS);
- a unique device identifier (MAC address);
- iP address;
- qR code.
Mechanics available autoregistration at the first launch of the application, as well as registration through SMS confirmation.
Television and analytics statistics
Understanding what subscribers are watching is critical to making product and marketing decisions. Smarty offers two levels of statistics:
1. Own statistics collection system MiStats. It is a module based on a high-performance ClickHouse database that collects browsing data and does not affect the performance of the main platform.
What MiStats does:
- Detailed schedules and reports by watching each channel, programs, as well as films and tv series from the video library.
- Channel and transmission ratings in terms of categories, tariffs and types of devices.
- Automatic creation of popular content for display in the interface based on real browsing statistics (by viewing time, number of sessions).
2. Integration with external analytics systems. To work with industry-wide data and to analyze user behavior in detail, Smarty supports integration with recognized TV meters: Mediahills, Mediascope and Showcase TVand with web analytics systems Yandex Metrica and AppMetrica.
